Guiding Q
  • How do you push through to completion in any project?
Bell Ringers:
  • None this week
Activities:
  • Complete test on 5 stages of writing, prewriting, and figurative language
  • Complete all make up work: make up work not completed by Friday will not be graded.
    • Grades have been posted since Monday
  • Complete and turn in the total compare/contrast writing project
    • 150 points includes the following 6 items
      • 1. Prewrite -- graded twice already but must be included
      • 2. Choice of two things being compared
      • 3. Listing (Venn diagram, or graphic chart or on own paper) showing how the items are alike, and how they are different.
      • 4. A crafted thesis statement
      • 5. A phrasal or sentence outline of the paragraphs of their paper
      • 6. The rough draft (The rough draft is unedited and the final paper is edited. If the two papers are the same, they will get a zero for part of their project.)
    • 150 points will be for the final edited, perfect paper. I will grade this based on the 10 bullet points listed under "Key Traits" on page 266 of their book.
    • Notes
      • Full credit if turned in on or before Thursday, 10/18/12
      • Loss of one letter grade on Friday, 10/19/12
      • I will not accept papers after Friday.
  • Students are given all the time in class to finish this paper between Monday and Friday except for the time they voluntarily spend on make up work and the 5 stages test.
    • Computers are available to them.
