Drama and English: 12/17 to 21/12

For all classes this week:

This is exam week.

  • Monday is review for periods 1, 2, 3, 
  • Tuesday is test day for periods 1, 2, 3, 
  • Wednesday is review day for periods 4, 5, 6, 7
  • Thursday is test day for periods 4, 5, 6, 7
  • Friday is make up test day.
This week is final deadline for all make up work.

All classes (drama and English) have major projects that must be completed on or before 12/21/12. Projects may not be turned in during Christmas break or after the break.

English 4 & 4H: Week: 12/10 through 14/12

Guiding Q
  • How do you write a process Cause and Effect essay project?
  • How do you complete the complicated process of understanding Macbeth and evaluation a chosen character based on cause and effect relationships?

Activities
  • Complete reading Macbeth
  • Complete the 6 parts of the prewrite, from the detailed C & E chart through the rough draft
  • Complete the perfect polished final product.
  • C & E deadline comments
    • Students wanting to be exam exempt must turn in the project in time for me to evaluate it (on or before 12/14/12) and must be otherwise eligible for exemption
    • The final deadline for the project is before Christmas break (on or before 12/21/12)
    • No projects will be graded after Christmas break, no matter the excuse. Students have a two week window to turn the project in, this week and next, with sufficient time in class to complete it this week.
  • Make up all tests
  • Grades will be posted with a few items remaining to be made up. All items from previous grade postings, except tests, are no longer available for make up.

Drama: Week: 12/10 to 14/12

Guiding Q
  • How is the information about playwrights, directors, producers, and performers play out in real life?
  • How do you create and maintain a character project research notebook?

Activities:
  • Students will complete and present their PowerPoint projects as part of their semester exam grade.
  • The Civil War Stunt journal is now past due
  • Grades will be posted, and students will be given the opportunity for make up.
  • Students must begin their Olustee (Civil War) project research. This notebook will be turned in for a grade, the last grade of the grading period.
    • Students should know about the community and the common life of the time.
    • Students should know the fundamentals about the Battle of Olustee
    • Students should begin to identify basic conversation topics for people of that period.

  • Read Macbeth and chart individual character choices
  • Work on essay parts
  • Vocabulary test 5 on Friday with homework
  • Full essay assignment posted in the class agenda book

  • How do you keep a character notebook?

Activities
  • The Southern Stunt, discuss and perform
    • 150 word minimum reflective essay due next class
  • Finish any make up dramatic reading assignments
  • Finish the PowerPoint assignment this week.
    • Presentations begin on Monday

English 4 & 4H: 12/3,4/12

Guidin Q
  • What is the process for a cause and effect essay?
  • How do you write a thesis statement?
Bell Ringer
  • Write a complete sentence that explains your opinion or perception about the character you have chosen.
Activities:
  • We read and briefly went over all the bell ringers
  • The class went through two complete slide shows about how to write a thesis statement. Each show had multiple practices within
  • Students were given the complete writing assignment
    • Due date for those seeking exam exemption is 12/14/12
    • Final due date for the essay and all its parts is by Christmas break: 12/21/12. No essays turned in after the break will be graded.
    • The rubric for the prewrite and the final paper were posted and explained in detail..
  • The last vocabulary test (number 5) will be this Friday
  • Any time remaining was given to students to work on current projects.

  • Civil War Stunt
    • Stunt thoroughly mapped and explained
    • Date for stunt is set for 12/6/12
    • The details have been emailed to teachers around campus
    • Students are to tell their teachers in advance of the stunt that they will be participating
  • PowerPoint
    • This week is the week to finish the PowerPoint.
    • Presentations begin next Monday

    • We begin full time work on Olustee
