Agenda
1. BR: handout "How to Read a Short Story."
a. Students are to define the words in the box on the upper right hand corner.
b. The definitions go into section 2 of their notebook
c. May help each other, but each needs his own copy for his own notebook
2. Partner in groups up to 4 persons
a. Read the assigned short story, "The Oval Portrait."
b. Do all the techniques assigned in the handout
c. Be sure to include a vocabulary list from the story, as needed
3. Class assess the activity as a practice in analysis
a. Be sure that comments are defended by reason, anecdote, or example
b. Make sure students understand defend and give evidence and prove
