• Pass out papers and show students their semester 1 ending grades.
• Turn to page 126 in EOL. On a separate paper take notes on the bold print, step by step, and/or chart information. Do Your Turn 1 on page 127 and answer the questions on the essay pages 128-132. Turn in to the homework chair or have complete at the beginning of next class.
• SNT "Christmas break was ______." Explain the simple model of topic, main idea, supporting details. Model on the board with personal examples. Discuss real life applications of this communication skill. Turn in to homework chair or have complete at the beginning of next class.
• Give the following handouts: note taking strategies, 4 D's of literary analysis, "How to Read a Poem" and a list of poetry terms to define.
• Reminders: 1. AR requirements haven't changed, and we will go to the library next Monday and Tuesday; 2. My website which all all the poetry terms defined for downloading and printing; and 3. Calendar will be up and posted next class.
