8/26/09 Drama

  1. Open class with "sound bites." Students follow the oral high/low, loud/soft of the director. Also, students began playing with reading "Sarah Sylvia Cynthia Stout Would Not Take the Garbage Out" to visual cues. Also the poem was modeled for them and will be assigned in detail later.
  2. Students were given improvisations to do in class, particularly modeled by level 2 students.
  3. Class discussion related to improvisation, character, and related topics with Ms. Wilks according to her experience in community performances. Special focus was given to building an actor's community of trust.
  4. Students wrote and are sharing their essay on their favorite character. Focus is on what makes the character believable and interesting. This is a set up for the introductions which will come next class period.
